Sconces - Research


Sconces are fixtures or brackets mounted on walls that originally held candles or torches. They originated in Italy. They consisted of a mirror or shiny pieces of metal that were mounted on a wall and reflected the light of a candle. In Anglo Saxon times sconces were mounted on a wall to hold torches.
